Canada needs more than 167,000 new apprentices in the next 5 years

Jordan Harper struggled to make ends meet for his young family before landing an apprenticeship as a metal fabricator and fitter for Seaspan Shipyards in North Vancouver. He received word a week ago that he passed his Red Seal exam, completing his certification.
According to a recent report put together by Statistics Canada and the Canadian Apprenticeship Forum, Canada needs to attract 167,739 new apprentices over the next five years just to keep pace with current demand.
